Song Narratives by Tom Nave – Mile Markers

Living on Borrowed Time - Life is short. Make the most of it.

Fate - Are the circumstances in your life purely coincidence or are they pre-ordained.

Coastline Drive - Our very first song. Vinny had written a melody and I asked him what he was thinking about when he wrote it. The song was born.

Protect Your Nuts - The idea came from a T-shirt Vinny was wearing that depicted a squirrel in a protective stance with a large stick guarding a pile of nuts on the ground. I used the idea to represent a relative who’s behavior around others that can be a challenge or ones own male body parts. The listener is left to decide on the meaning of the ambiguity.

Wake Up People – Written in the years of the Obama presidency where I felt I was living in an alternative universe with regard to government policies and felt the need to express what I was seeing musically.

Just You Me and the Dog - Retirement life, the love of a long satisfying marriage, coping with the death of our son, and the joy a rescue dog can bring even in the worst of circumstances.

Birdman - The second song we recorded was written because of the death of a dear friend, Jay Oxford, one of the funniest persons I ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Company Man - The pressure to succeed in the competitive world of business for a guy who puts on a suit and tie for the sake of the company but who would much rather wear jeans and a casual shirt every day

Gator Bay – a fictional name of a place where the band we played in used to gig. We had a lot of fun there in the day.

Prisoner of Your Love – just a love song

Guys Never Change – the name of the song says it all. A general observation that men get older but rarely change despite a woman’s tendency to try to   mold them into someone else.

Two Way Ticket – a musical way of describing a life after death experience. Although written in the first person was based on the actual experience of Vinny.

Lefty Lunacy - Not happy with the current activities and policies of our current anti American radical left leaning regime was the motivation behind this one. America first, please!!

Hypnotized - Our version and remake of what I think is one of the best songs of all time.

Thanks for Listening to our Music!
